Frequently Asked Questions

What is Wenatchee Senior Softball?

We are a senior softball League operating within the Apple Valley Softball Association, a nonprofit organization affiliated with six softball leagues in the Greater Wenatchee Valley. The senior League offers early summer softball ranging from competitive to recreational levels. We run multiple senior softball tournaments each year. We are members the SSUSA (Senior Softball USA).

Who can sign up and play?

Adults living in North Central Washington. Men must be 48 and women 35 years of age by the end of the calendar year of the current season. Each Division I team is allowed to have two men players under age 50 if age 48 or older. Current players hail from just about everywhere in North Central Washington including Chelan, Omak, Okanogan, Quincy, Malaga, Cashmere, Twisp, Winthrop, Waterville, Leavenworth, Plain, East Wenatchee and Wenatchee.

How much does it cost?

The player league fee is $20 per season for playing on one team. A player has the option to play for a second team which adds $10 for that season.

Returning players are subject to a late registration fee of $10 in addition to other fees if not registered by March 10 of each season. This does not apply to new players.

Our sponsors furnish "uniforms" which traditionally consist of shirts and hats. Some sponsors may contribue towards bats. Softballs are provided by the League. Players are responsible to provide their own mitt and shoes (if desired and no metal spikes please).

When are games played?

Regular season games are played weekday evenings (Monday to Thursday, no Fridays or weekends) between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Some teams participate in tournaments which are usually held on Friday evenings through the weekend. If you join a team which participates in tournaments, your participation in tournaments is not required.

Where are games played?

Games are played at Walla Walla Point Park ("Walla Walla") in Wenatchee, Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park ("Hydro") in East Wenatchee and at Kent or Rainier fields in Chelan (most teams will take two to three trips to Chelan during the season). For more information, visit Field Locations.

When is the season?

Our season runs from the end of April to the middle of July. Some of our tournament teams offer opportunities for play beyond our regular season.

What and when are the Wenatchee Senior Softball tournaments?

The Wenatchee Senior Softball tournaments are held during and just after the local season. We start with a kick-off tournament in April, have 60+/65+ and 70+/75+ May tournaments, followed by the Golden Sun tournament in June. All tournaments are opens with teams from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and British Columbia frequently participating. For more information visit Tournaments.

What is MemberPlanet?

MemberPlanet is member management software used by the League to manage online sign ups of New Players, renewals for Returning Players, and online tournament registrations. Each player in the League has a profile where they can manage information such as change of address, phone numbers, email addresses, the team(s) they play for, and emergency contact information. The League uses the software's business management features to account for player fees collected, legal requirements tracking, and tournament fees processing.
